18. Coal Harbour
by Micayla Gatto
Instead of interpreting what I see when I look out at Coal Harbour from the Stanley Park seawall, I chose to internalize and portray what I feel when I immerse myself in what surrounds me in Vancouver. When the sun shines across the water and bounces into the windows of downtown offices, the intensity of energy is overwhelming. Joggers pick up their pace, and people turn their heads to the sun, close their eyes and smile. I chose to use intense colour, and thick, consistent brush strokes to reflect this feeling.
